Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that more than 25,000 women in Chamoli district have become “Lakhpati Didis” through government support programmes. He also said that over 42,000 women have joined self-help groups, helping them improve their income and become financially stronger.
Dhami made these remarks while addressing the “Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar” programme in Gopeshwar under the “Seva, Sushasan Evam Samarpan” campaign.
The chief minister said the aim of the campaign is to take government services directly to people instead of making them visit government offices. According to him, more than six lakh people participated in the first phase of the programme across Uttarakhand, and over 60,000 public complaints were resolved on the spot.
Dhami said that more than 48,000 farmers in Chamoli have received over ₹196 crore under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. He also noted that 872 homestays have been set up in the district under the Deendayal Homestay Scheme, creating employment opportunities for local residents.
He added that Uttarakhand has received investment proposals worth ₹3.75 lakh crore and that more than 34,000 young people have obtained government jobs through a transparent recruitment process.

The event gained political attention when Badrinath Congress MLA Lakhpat Butola publicly praised the chief minister.
Butola said opposition legislators are often accused of being ignored, but claimed that significant development work had taken place in his constituency. He thanked Dhami for supporting development projects without political bias.
His comments are notable because the BJP and Congress have frequently criticised each other over development issues in the state.
During the programme, Dhami also spoke about the recent theft at the Badrinath temple. He called the incident serious and said the government would ensure strict action against those responsible. He added that the matter should not be turned into a political issue.
The chief minister urged people to take advantage of government welfare schemes and said the administration is committed to ensuring that development benefits reach every eligible citizen.
