Candidates who appeared for the UGC NET June 2026 examination are eagerly waiting for the National Testing Agency (NTA) to release the provisional answer key. It has been several days since the examination concluded on June 30, but the answer key has not yet been published, leaving thousands of students anxious about their results and future plans.
Once released, the provisional answer key and response sheets will be available on the official UGC NET website. The answer key allows candidates to compare their responses, estimate their scores and decide whether to challenge any answers before the final results are declared.
As the delay continues, many candidates have taken to social media to express their concerns and request the NTA to release the answer key without further waiting.
Several students have argued that if only a few subjects are facing issues, the answer keys for all the remaining subjects should be released immediately instead of making every candidate wait.
Many candidates said they had spent months preparing for the examination and wanted to know how they had performed so they could make decisions regarding higher studies, research opportunities and teaching careers.
Some students have also sought clarification from the NTA regarding reports of an alleged paper leak in one of the examination subjects. They have requested the agency to issue an official statement to remove confusion and inform candidates about the status of the answer key.
The delay in releasing the provisional answer key has become a major topic of discussion on social media platforms.
Several candidates have questioned why the answer key has not been published even after the examination concluded. They believe the delay is increasing uncertainty among students who are waiting to assess their performance.
Some candidates have suggested that reports of alleged irregularities in the Sociology examination may have delayed the release of answer keys for all subjects. They have argued that if the concerns relate only to one paper, the answer keys for other subjects should not be withheld.
Students have also demanded greater transparency from the National Testing Agency. Many believe an official update explaining the reason for the delay would help reduce speculation and reassure candidates.
The provisional answer key is considered an important stage of the examination process because candidates can calculate their expected scores and submit objections if they believe any answers are incorrect. After reviewing all objections, the NTA releases the final answer key and prepares the results accordingly.
Until the answer key is published, candidates remain unable to estimate their performance accurately.
The delay has also coincided with reports alleging a possible paper leak in the UGC NET Sociology examination held on June 30.
According to reports circulating online, a 100-page PDF containing questions similar to those asked in the Sociology paper was allegedly available before the examination. Some reports claimed that nearly 90 questions matched the actual question paper.
The reports further alleged that the document was being sold for Rs 2.25 lakh in several states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan.
Following these allegations, the Union Education Ministry has reportedly directed the National Testing Agency to investigate the matter. According to sources, the investigation is aimed at verifying whether any irregularities took place during the Sociology examination.
So far, the NTA has not issued any official statement confirming or denying the allegations. As a result, uncertainty among candidates has continued.
The issue has also entered the political arena. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi referred to media reports claiming that a confidential PDF containing question paper-setting material had been circulated before the examination. Citing those reports, he criticised the government and questioned the security of national-level competitive examinations.
He alleged that repeated controversies involving examinations such as NEET and NET had affected students' confidence and called for accountability and a proper investigation into the claims.
However, at present, the allegations remain under investigation, and no official conclusion has been announced by the authorities.
Candidates are advised to rely only on official announcements made by the National Testing Agency regarding the answer key, response sheets and further examination updates.
Once released, candidates will be able to download the UGC NET June 2026 provisional answer key and their response sheets from the official website, compare their answers and, if necessary, submit objections within the prescribed deadline.
Until then, students continue to wait for an official update from the NTA regarding both the answer key and the ongoing investigation into the alleged paper leak. The agency's response is expected to bring greater clarity to thousands of candidates who are awaiting the next stage of the examination process.
