US President Donald Trump has once again praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him one of the world leaders he admires the most. During an interview after the G7 Summit in France, Trump said that the two global leaders he respects most are India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and China’s President Xi Jinping.
The comments came during a discussion about global leadership, power and international influence. Trump described Modi as “a very tough cookie” and Xi Jinping as “all business.”
His remarks have drawn attention because they come at a time when the United States is working closely with India on many important global issues, even though the two countries still have some disagreements.
Trump’s praise for Modi is being seen as another sign of the strong personal relationship between the two leaders.
In the interview with Axios, Trump was asked which world leaders he admires the most. Instead of naming leaders from Europe or the Middle East, he chose leaders from Asia — Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping.

Even though India and the US have differences over tariffs, immigration and India’s oil purchases from Russia, both countries continue to work together on many global issues.
